In Bricktown we stayed at a hotel that looked down on the RedHawks baseball stadium. Bronze statues of Mickey Mantel and Johnny Bench, natives of Oklahoma City guarded two of the gates into the stadium.
Here's Johnny Bench
In Bricktown was a fantastic sculpture setting of cowboys on horses and covered wagons. The bronze sculptures were 1 1/2 size of humans.
Ethan is sitting on a USP Buffallo -- each ticket gate at the RedHawk stadium had a buffalow at the entrance.
We had dinner last night with Katy and Blake at Toby Keith's Favorite Bar and Grill. We learned a lot about their trip to Irland. Their real excited about living there for a few years.
We took a water taxi after dinner on the river in Bricktown. The river was man-made and was very similar to the river taxis in San Antonio. Ethan liked it so much that he wanted to do it again this morning.
But we had to head out to Guymon, OK. Traveling through western Oklahoma is a real eye-opener. It is probably the definition of desolate land. We could look out for miles of rolling hills covered with hay or scrub brush. The land was spotted with humble farm house that seemed to be 20 to 30 miles apart.
Then gradually we saw corn fields. By the time we got to the sunflowers we felt like Dorothy and the three Ozians coming out of the forest into the field of poppies.
Tonight we are relaxing in Guymon. I don't believe that there is anything else to do after dinner here. Tomorrow we're off to the Great Sand Dunes.
