Entering Colorado

Entering Colorado.

PaPere and Ethan playing on the merry-go-round at the Museum in Boise City, OK.

Ethan climbing on the tractor with PaPere waving in the background.

Ethan and I walking away from the tractor. We had a Siamese cat follow us around.

This was a giant scooter.

Ethan's being frighten by the dinosaur.

Ethan loved this tractor -- he climbed on every part of it.

This is the same tractor that I am on for my facebook page.

I'm not sure if you can see Ethan, but he is between the dinosaur's legs and neck.

We all got up late this morning. After breakfast we packed up the car and headed to Boise City, OK. Here we played around the Museum for almost two hours. This was Miles and my second visit here. We weren't sure if Ethan would enjoy it, but he had a great time. He saw the dinosaur bones collected here, plus a real one room school house used in the early 1900's. An old fashion merry-go-round and seesaw. We went down under the ground in a bunker that originally housed a family of 5. We also went inside a well house where a windmill pumped in well water. This was where people would store their milk, butter, and in the summer would cool down their watermelons. Ethan sifted through sand for dinosaur bones and played in a real Indian teepee.

We were pretty tired after being in the sun in 103 degrees, so we cooled down in the car as we drove to Colorado.

On our way to the Great Sand Dunes we saw heards of deer and elk. We went from 106 degrees in the early afternoon to 62 degrees this evening around 7:00. Our elevation went from a little under 2000 feet to over 9600 feet. We are currently only 8070 feet above sea level at the Sand Dunes. We had a great dinner at the lodge's restaurant, Ethan cleaned his plate then had a big bowl of ice cream.

It was a great day but we were all pretty tired so it didn't take us long to wind down for bed. Here are a few pictures from today.
